Summary
The Safety Executive supports the Safety Team in the day-to-day operations. Reporting to the Assistant Safety Manager, he/she will collaborate with various internal departments and external service providers.
This role is responsible for assisting in the implementation and integration of the Safety Management System (SMS) throughout the organization, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Fire Safety Act, and applicable airport safety standards.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with aviation safety regulations
- Perform regular safety inspections on ground handling operations, equipment, and facilities to assess safety performance, identify areas of improvement
- Conduct and assist in preparing for internal and external audits
- Ensure adherence to the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Fire Safety Act, and airport authority regulations
- Investigate ground incidents, near misses, and workplace accidents; support root cause analysis and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Participate in hazard identification activities and conduct Risk Assessments (RA) for various ground operations
- Assist in organizing and facilitating safety induction, refresher training, toolbox talks, and safety awareness campaigns for staff and contractors
- Ensure all safety-related records, including SOPs, RA, training records, and audit findings, are properly documented and accessible
- Support communication and coordination with CAAS, Changi Airport Group (CAG), SCDF, SPF and other relevant authorities on safety matters
- Encourage proactive reporting, conduct STOP observations, and support continuous safety improvements
- Support in review processes and workflows to improve operational effectiveness and meeting Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Ensure respective departments submit their incident report promptly
- Conduct safety orientation to new employees and contractors before work commencement and support department’s assigned role in company’s Crisis Management Plan
- Assist in conducting monthly safety promotion activities annually to educate and remind staff on safety
- Ensure compliance with all workplace safety, security, and health policies and procedure
- Perform any ad-hoc duties as assigned by the reporting manager or department head
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Workplace Safety and Health, Aviation, Engineering, or a related discipline
- At least 3 – 5 years of relevant experience in workplace safety, preferably in the aviation or ground handling industry
- Working knowledge of ISO9001, ISO45001, ISAGO and with experience in safety audits
- WSQ Advanced Certificate in Workplace Safety and Health (or equivalent) is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of the Workplace Safety and Health Act, Fire Safety Act, and airport operational safety requirements
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel with strong data analysis skills (e.g., pivot tables, charts, formulas)
- Experience with Power BI or similar business intelligence tools for creating dashboards and visualizing safety data
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage staff, contractors, and stakeholders
- Video editing skills (e.g., for safety training materials or briefings) will be an added advantage
- Willing to work in airport/airside environments
